At the McKenna Recovery Center we provide a comprehensive, multi-faceted menu of treatment. Our credentialed team assesses the addiction and implements an individualized treatment plan built around each patient’s history, medical needs, and circumstances.
What Our Comprehensive Outpatient Treatment Program Includes for Patients and Their Families
Sessions with patients who share similar problems with substance use disorders, forming the core of the group model of treatment.
Personalized attention to your care plan, complementing the group work rather than replacing it.
The family is part of the evaluation and treatment process from beginning to end.
We work with your employer, employee assistance program, or monitoring organization when requested.
Psychiatric conditions occurring alongside a substance use disorder are treated in the same clinic.
Continuing care including post-residential support for patients stepping down from inpatient treatment elsewhere.
Alcohol and Drug Treatment Services, Dual Diagnosis Care, and Regulated Safety-Sensitive Evaluations
Medication Assisted Recovery and Outpatient Detoxification Provided Under Physician Supervision
For patients requiring detoxification, our Medical Director is dually board certified in Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine and provides expertise in outpatient detoxification when appropriate. A full range of outpatient treatment services is available at ASAM Level 2 intensity.
| Substance | Outpatient approach when criteria are met |
|---|---|
| Alcohol | Detoxification and medication assisted relapse prevention. Some patients require hospitalization, but those meeting criteria may be detoxed on an outpatient basis. |
| Benzodiazepines | Supervised tapering and withdrawal management for medications such as Xanax and Valium. |
| Opioids | Painkillers including OxyContin, Percocet, and Roxicodone, as well as heroin, may be detoxed on buprenorphine with naloxone, or on buprenorphine alone if pregnant. |
Suitability for outpatient withdrawal management is a clinical decision made after evaluation, not a preference. Where a hospital setting is safer, we say so.
Laboratory Toxicology and Urine Drug Screening Used to Document Patient Progress
To document the progress of each patient, The McKenna Recovery Center performs urine drug screens. We use a baseline test and random intervals to capture data that supports the progress each patient is making. Screening is not a gotcha exercise. Objective results protect patients whose employers, licensing boards, or families need something more solid than a verbal assurance.
Family Counseling Because Addiction Affects the Whole Household, Not Only the Patient
Alongside individual and group counseling, the McKenna Recovery Center uses family counseling to aid recovery. We believe addiction is a family matter: it affects the patient and it affects the people who live with them. It is important that we help not only our patient recover, but their family as well.
Significant others are encouraged to take part in the initial evaluation and in family therapy sessions. Family involvement is key to creating and sustaining a resilient recovery plan, and it is often the piece that determines whether progress holds after structured treatment ends.
